Microsoft Development DBA / Consultant

Due to rapid growth we are looking to expand our Microsoft Data Practice and need further Microsoft Development DBAs and Database Consultants. Role & Responsibilities

A senior Development / Production support DBA is required to split time between support desk, billable consultancy and pre-sales. You will represent DSP professionally through a mix of onsite and remote work. . The role will ideally be based in Basingstoke with frequent visits to the London office and customer sites as required where you may be required to stay away from home. Existing Microsoft certifications are an advantage but, due to our Microsoft Gold Certification can be easily picked up on the job.

Managed Services Support:

  • Production SQL Server DBA support for Managed Clients
  • Responding to tickets and support functions via the DSP service desk
  • Across the Microsoft data stack both on-premise and cloud (Azure)

Consultancy / PreSales support:

  • Work with customers and delivery partners to help define, develop and deliver high impact solutions based on Microsoft’s data stack
  • Engage in database / development projects ranging from upgrades to performance tuning and full redesign with custom code
  • Work with management when necessary to resolve sensitive account issues and to effectively manage customer incidents
  • Proactively work with the sales team and provide pre-sales
  • Provide thought leadership to support marketing including creation of blogs

Required Technical Skills – SQL Development (inc Azure)

The ideal candidate will have gained the following skills over 5 years:

  • 5+ Years’ experience of SQL Server 2008 R2 upwards (including SSMS, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS)
  • Understanding and application of database design techniques
  • Large-scale data manipulation and Extract Transform and Load (ETL) using SQL Server Integration Services, T-SQL code and other techniques
  • Extensive development experience, amendment and debugging of T-SQL coding, database design, performance tuning, ETL using SSIS or similar.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server development tools
  • A working knowledge of one or more .NET development languages and associated database APIs, advantageous but not essential.

Required Technical Skills – SQL Server DBA

The ideal candidate will have gained the following skills over 2-5 years:

  • SQL Server Relational Database Engine Database administration from SQL 2000 to 2017
  • Disaster recovery including log shipping, Mirroring and availability groups would be advantageous
  • Understanding of Windows and Azure core services and components

Special Requirements

Customers are generally based in the greater London Area, but you may be required to stay away from home during the working week. Service desk hours are delivered by an early and late shift between 8:30 and 18:00. There will be some rota work to cover our 24x7x365 clients.

Location

This role will ideally be based in our Basingstoke Office although there is the opportunity to work from our London (St Pauls) office instead.
