Keeping Up The Apprentice Tradition

Earlier this year, Just IT held their 2nd annual “Apprenticeship Awards 2016”, in which the DSP Managed Services team were involved for the second year running.

In 2015, we had Jermaine Savory in the running for the Technical Support Apprentice of the Year award, and ended up leaving with a runners-up prize. This year the team has been represented once again, by Amrita Singh. It was a fantastic evening, and Amrita even managed to go one better this time around; she took home the runners-up prize in the Technical Support category, but was the WINNER of the overall Apprentice of the Year award. This is a fantastic achievement for her and everyone at DSP is very proud of her.

This also goes to show how much of an important role apprenticeships have played a part in building the DSP Managed Services team. Our most recent apprentices have successfully gone on to secure permanent roles at DSP, and they now make up 21% of the core Managed Services team. This just goes to show how effective the apprenticeship scheme can be, and also shows that having natural desire, enthusiasm and a good attitude can get you far; you don’t have to rely on having a degree and 3 years at an expensive university. DSP have worked closely with both Just IT and QA in hiring successful apprentices and they are now proving to have a huge impact on the way we deliver Managed Services to our clients. It is always satisfying seeing young people get a chance, and then grabbing that chance with both hands.

Long may it continue, and once again, massive congrats to Amrita!
