DSP Role Summary

We have a unique opportunity for an intern to work in the DSP innovation team alongside the CTO, Data Analytics Engineer and Director of Innovation.

The intern will develop a new portal to enable a customer to explore analytics on their services (e.g. infrastructure monitoring, cloud services, machine learning services). The intern will provide creative solutions for data analytics, data extraction using APIs, and data manipulation and more, bringing together data from dissimilar sources.

To be successful the intern may not have all the skills below, but will need curiosity and tenacity to solve problems across multiple disciplines and experience in computer programming/engineering, and data analysis. A background in Computer Science or Maths is likely.

The role is full-time and partially based from either our Nottingham or Central London office. The role starts Mid July and runs for 6 weeks, and pays a salary of £9 per hour.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Building a software solution around ‘Infrastructure as Code’
  • Provide elements of automation for the deployment of Cloud infrastructure
  • Developing scripts in SQL, Perl, Python, Java or the candidate's preferred language

Key Success Criteria 

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to take problems and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Willingness to learn, adapt and challenge themselves in undertaking new tasks in new technologies
  • Strong communicator with an ability to express technical challenges in a non-technical way
  • Strong written and presentation skills to be able to ensure all work is documented to the highest standard
  • Manage their own time appropriately and ensure deadlines are met and expectations are set with key stakeholders
  • Desire to learn and get to grips with tools and problems which may be unfamiliar

Experience and Background 

  • Computer science/maths/engineering degree
  • Experience in scripting languages
  • Understanding Cloud and Infrastructure as Code concepts
