On-Premise BI

Business Intelligence (BI) seems like a natural fit for the cloud, with Analytics software able to process incoming data in real-time. However, there are still benefits to on-premise deployments that mostly come down to two factors: data transfer speed and security.

On-premise BI software is installed locally on a company’s own server. Because everything is situated on-location, there is no delay in data transfer – it’s instantaneous and reliable. Businesses can also be sure that processor power won’t be drained from another business on the same server in the cloud because the database is dedicated (although many of the better cloud services have measures in place to prevent this). Many businesses have a huge amount of data – often in the exabytes – and uploading this amount of information from an on-premise network to the cloud over a standard connection is a very slow process and will take a lot of time, which some organisations can’t afford to invest yet.
