Oracle Database 12c End of Life

As of the 30th November 2020, Oracle Database 12c entered end of life. This could hugely affect your business as your critical databases will be left exposed with no options for bug fixes and patches under your support fees.

As Oracle Database experts with over 25 years of experience, we are best placed to offer you the most suitable solution for your business. Whether that is simply upgrading to 19c, migrating to cloud, or supporting your current 18c database.

What are my options?

Get in Touch

Upgrade

The first option you could take is upgrading your database to Oracle 19c. The newer version is supported until 2027, it's also packed with advanced features providing enhanced performance and security. Such an upgrade should be planned and done with the knowledge of how it can benefit your environment/setup.

Migrate

Another way forward is to migrate to cloud. Migrating to cloud such as OCI isn't as scary as it sounds, and there are multiple benefits of doing so, such as security, simplification and cost.

With Oracle Cloud, you only pay for what you use and make sure your business chooses the optimum model for your Oracle deployment be that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI/IaaS) or Oracle Database Cloud Service (PaaS). Equally, you may wish to consider leveraging your current license investment through the BYOL programme.

Support

Alternatively, DSP can support your 12c database. It's at the core of our business to proactively monitor databases. Our team of award-winning certified DBAs have supported 12c since release, so you know you'll be in safe hands. This option means that you won't carry the expense of having to upgrade, and you'll have peace of mind with 24x7x365 support. However, as the version is no longer supported we can't promise to get hold of the latest patches. It is an option for us to support you 12c database, however, upgrading or migrating could be a better option.

Do Nothing

We can only advise you take action, but doing nothing is technically an option, as you'll enter 'sustained support', however, we strongly recommend against this. Not doing anything will risk your business's security as you will be left with limited options for fixing issues that may be directly affecting your business revenues and operations. If your database goes down, your business may not be able to operate.
