Overview

NHBC is the UK's leading provider of warranty and insurance for new-build homes, focused on raising construction standards and protecting homeowners nationwide. NHBC identified an opportunity to modernise their ageing applications and migrate from a third-party hosting environment to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). DSP was chosen as the technology partner for this project due to our extensive expertise in Oracle APEX application development and Oracle Cloud.

The Challenge

NHBC had a suite of older Fusion applications, built on Oracle Forms, that had become increasingly difficult to maintain. They were also looking for a more cost-effective, flexible, and strategically aligned infrastructure solution than their existing hosting arrangement. NHBC required a scalable, modern solution that would integrate seamlessly with its evolving systems while supporting future innovation.

The Solution

NHBC decided to rebuild its legacy applications in Oracle APEX and migrate their operations to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. To achieve this transformation, they chose DSP as their expert Oracle partner. DSP's experienced Oracle APEX developers were integrated directly into NHBC's development team, working full-time for over two years to deliver the new APEX applications. As different applications were migrated, a major challenge was to keep the data up to date in both the existing legacy database and the new OCI environment. This was managed using a combination of Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) to ensure seamless, real-time data synchronisation throughout the transition period.

Through this successful partnership, NHBC has improved its application landscape. They now have a suite of modern Oracle APEX applications built on Oracle Autonomous Database, allowing them to extend the applications, improve operational efficiency, and stay at the forefront of Oracle technology.
