BFC Bank offers international payments, multi-currency accounts and foreign exchange (FX) services to SMEs and PSPs with a turnover between £5 million and £50 million a year. They provide financial services in over 55,000 locations in 40 countries. BFC has been in the UK since 2003 and received their UK banking license in September 2016.

In 2015 BFC opted to outsource the management and hosting of their infrastructure to Blue Chip Group. However, Blue Chip did not have Oracle database expertise in-house and required a reliable database partner to work with their service desk. As a result, they needed a third-party provider and chose DSP to work with, as we are the UK's leading provider of Oracle database support.


The Challenge

In 2015 to secure the future of BFC, the bank was expected to meet regular technology stress tests (i.e. for faster payments) by the Bank of England. BFC’s business-critical third-party banking applications (Olympic Banking System) runs on Oracle software.

The Solution

DSP provided BFC Bank with 24/7/365 Oracle DBA support via Blue Chip’s 2 UK data centres. As well as adapted and flexible support via Blue Chip’s service desk.

The solution was extremely successful, resulting in an excellent response and resolution service level agreement (SLA) during the stress tests and ongoing support of the Olympic Banking System.
